Call for proposals: Second UNDG Inter-Agency Knowledge Fair on "UN Effectiveness in Knowledge Sharing"

In its continuous effort to support knowledge initiatives and in response to the demand from UN Coordination practitioners, UNDOCO will be organizing in close collaboration with the UN System Staff College (UNSSC) a second inter-Agency Knowledge Fair in Turin (Italy) at the UN Campus from 16 to 18 November 2010. This new face-to-face practitioners’ meeting will focus on UN Effectiveness in Knowledge Sharing. As for the first knowledge fair organized in Vienna in September, this theme was selected by a wide range of coordination and knowledge management practitioners through an online survey conducted in March 2010.

The purpose of the fair is to provide UN staff from Headquarters, regional, sub-regional and country offices with a chance to learn from each other and to demonstrate how knowledge sharing can increase the effectiveness and impact of field-level activities. It will also help to draw on the expertise available within and across the UN development system and provide knowledge for identification of lessons learned and good practices.

The inter-Agency knowledge fair will be an opportunity to:
  • Demonstrate how knowledge sharing can increase the effectiveness and impact of field-level activities;
  • Learn from peers, stimulate reflection and foster innovation in the way programmatic activities are designed, developed and implemented at country level;
  • Engage UN staff from Headquarters, regional, sub-regional and country offices, as well as participants from government, civil society and academia, in establishing and reinforcing networks;
  • Strengthen staff capabilities to leverage experience at the country level as a result of learning through participation in facilitated knowledge sharing activities.
The deadline for submission of Papers is 20 October 2010.

The event will be held in English. If you wish to submit a proposal in another UN language, please fill in the form below. We would be grateful if you could ensure that the abstract has been translated into English. More information and call for proposal is available from: http://bit.ly/UNDGSFTurin
